Podcasts for A/E/C Marketers

Every day it seems like I am discovering a new podcast. At my previous job, I commuted one-hour way to work. I had two hours a day to listen to podcasts! That’s when my podcast obsession began. I shared back in 2017 my original list of podcasts. In this article I update the list of podcasts for A/E/C marketers.

Now, since so many new ones are available and I don’t have quite as much time to find new ones, I reached out to you, the readers of Marketers Take Flight, to share your favorites with me. In this new article, I share the recommended podcasts for A/E/C marketers.

Before we get to the list, let me share why I love podcasts.

First, they are audio so I can listen while I am doing other tasks like driving or folding laundry. Score for multi-tasking!

Second, since they are digital and often updated weekly or bi-weekly, they are full of the latest and greatest advice. Podcasts help me keep up with ever-changing digital marketing trends, market research, and business leadership skills. Books are great, but in today’s business climate, they can become outdated rather quickly.

My favorite are the podcasts that interview other people. Not only do they share different ideas and perspectives, but I also find new podcasts or blogs to follow too.

Best of all podcasts are FREE! What’s better than getting free education, inspiration, and advice!?!?!

Another podcast from my original list but still relevant.

This podcast interviews real people doing real work in social media. I am here to tell you that they do a very good job at doing this. They talk with actual CMOs, social media managers, etc. at firms who are successful with their social media marketing efforts. They get into details of what works and how they do inside their companies. While most of the companies they feature are B2C, there is always a nugget or two I can pull out that can be relatable to our social media marketing efforts.

Social Media Marketing Podcast

I have been listening to this podcast for more than five years. It’s consistently been listed as a top-10 marketing podcast. The host, Michael Stelzner, interviews leading social media marketing experts each week. They talk about how to implement social media, learn new strategies and tactics, and share actional tips to improve your social media marketing.

I also like how each episode begins with a new tech tool or resource discovery and explanation. Many of them are also free.

I will admit that most episodes are geared to the B2C online marketing world, so I read each description before investing the 45 minutes to listen to the episode. However, this can still be a useful podcast for A/E/C marketers.

Some recent episodes to check out are:

  • How to Create Long-Form Videos that Sell
  • Narrative Storytelling: How to Weave Stories into Your Marketing
  • LinkedIn Video: How Marketers can Create Videos People Watch on LinkedIn
  • Webinars: How to Market and Sell Using Webinars

Bossed Up

I saw Emelie give the closing keynote at this year’s SMPS Southern Regional Conference and feel in love instantly. She gives relatable career advice by interviewing experts. The shows focus on helping women navigate career transition and “step up as the boss of their careers.” She provides advice to those climbing the corporate ladder, starting side hustles, or in the middle of a job search.

As she says, this is a “community who lift as they climb.” I love it.
