Meet the Guest:

Kate Robinette, CPSM, Partner, Go! Strategies, LLC

Kate is a theater nerd who learned about AEC marketing when a board member of the arts council where she worked suggested she talk to his marketing director. She quickly realized her linear thinking, strategic analysis, writing, and logistics management were a killer combination for helping to win work. She spent 20 years honing her craft. Now she helps companies strengthen their marketing and BD teams, culture, and employee engagement with the same combination of talents and a (slightly less) deadline-driven rigor.

This is great. going to become a member…thank you! I am seeking advice on the process from start to finish. We need a more structured linear process in place. We have RFP’s/Invites to submit from several different sources going to several different team members. There is no standardization or structure in our process. I follow the demands/requests of our Business Development manager who works in her own organized chaos and PM’s who are also waiting on principals who are often non responsive. Assignments are often vague and overlapping and by the time I either hear about the proposal or they have materials ready, it’s within a couple days of the due date. I’m trying to present a linear/structured/organized method, but it has to be a strong method that everyone is willing to follow. A podcast on this topic would be awesome!

      Hi Cassandra,

Thank you for listening. I teach the full proposal management process inside the Proposal Pro Course. I will be opening registration for that course again in spring 2022. However, when you have multiple proposals and making multiple assignments to the same people it can get cumbersome. Having a CRM and regular BD/Proposal update meetings with key folks helps to understand who’s working on what, who might be overloaded, and where you can make reassignments. I do have some upcoming member-only episodes planned to talk about some of this. I will note your specific questions to address.

      Cheers!
      Lindsay
